Received: 04.05.2016; Revised: 24.06.2016; Accepted: 12.10.2016 Fig. 1: HRCT (5 mm sections) scan of the thorax of the patient showing air trapping (red arrows), ground glass opacity with high attenuation (blue arrows) and intervening normal lung (yellow arrow). The lower zones of both lungs are normal (white arrow), typical of hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Due to long-standing nature of the disease, some fibrous septa are also seen in upper zones. sign indicates a dual pathophysiology: lung parenchymal infiltration and obstruction of small airways.

Headcheese sign.
Appearance: The headcheese sign on chest CT is characterized by the juxtaposition of lobular regions of low, normal, and high attenuation.1 This results in 3 (or more) different densities on CT that are sharply demarcated from each other. The abrupt density transitions reflect the margins of secondary pulmonary lobules. Low attenuation lobules almost always reflect air trapping, which can be co...
متن کاملDynamic ‘Spot Sign’ Resolution following INR Correction in a Patient with Warfarin-Associated Intracerebral Hemorrhage
Hematoma expansion in intracerebral hemorrhage is associated with poor clinical outcome. The 'spot sign' is a radiological marker that is associated with hematoma expansion, and thought to represent active extravasation of contrast. This case demonstrates the use of dynamic CT angiography in identifying the time-dependent appearance of a spot sign in a patient with warfarin-associated intracere...
متن کاملAtypical Radiological Findings in Patients with Hydatid Cysts of the Lung, Study of 1024 Cases
Introduction : The objective of this study was to give a description of the most prominent atypical radiological presentations of lung hydatidosis. Materials and methods: All patients diagnosed with pulmonary hydatidosis by surgical exploration were included in this study. Standard chest roentgenogram and computed tomography CT) were evaluated before surgery for lung cysts or unknown lesions. R...
متن کاملThe callus fracture sign: a radiological predictor of progression to hypertrophic non-union in diaphyseal tibial fractures
We report a radiological sign which predicts progression to hypertrophic non-union for fractures of the tibial diaphysis. Radiographs of 46 tibial fractures were reviewed independently by four orthopaedic trauma surgeons and two musculoskeletal radiologists. Patients were identified from a database of tibial fractures managed with Ilizarov frame fixation. There were 23 fractures that progressed...
متن کاملMicroscopic Nikolsky’s Sign: Is It Useful for Diagnosis of Pemphigus Vulgaris?
Background: Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is an autoimmune blistering disease, caused by autoantibodies against desmoglein (Dsg) 3 and / or Dsg1 which induce the loss of adhesion between keratinocytes. Nikolsky's sign is the ability to induce peripheral extension of a blister as a consequence of applying lateral pressure to the border of an intact blister. If the weakening of the intercellular adhesi...
